Description
This lot comprises a pair of framed vintage advertising prints, likely dating to the early 20th century. Each print is matted and housed under glass in a dark reddish-brown wooden frame with a gilded inner border. The left print advertises “SUNLIGHT SOAP, ” depicting a young girl with a dog and baby animal, with visible text including “LEVER BROS. LTD.” and “PORT SUNLIGHT, ENGLAND, ” along with “THE FAMILY WASH” and an obscured copyright date, possibly 1905 or 1908. The right print promotes “IVY SOAP” with the slogan “IT FLOATS, ” featuring a baby in a bathtub with a dog, and is marked “Made only by GOODWIN’S MANCHESTER, ” crediting “Picture by Fred Morgan R.I.” and bearing a “Copyright 1904 by Goodwin Bros. Manchester.”
