Description

A pair of sepia-toned decorative prints, each presented in a rectangular, gilded wooden frame with a distressed finish and a slightly ornate, raised outer edge. The left print illustrates an ornate French bracket clock, identified as by Claude Montie of Paris, dating to approximately 1765. Text on the print notes it was “Purchased by John Minton, and presented at Stowe 1823” and that “The original design is at the Victoria and Albert Museum.” It is titled “Pendule Clock.” The right print depicts a crowned owl tureen, identified as German Meissen, circa 1760, made to a design by J.J. Kändler. Both prints are rendered in warm, sepia-toned hues, or light reddish-brown, and are presented under glass with white mats. The depicted objects represent 18th-century decorative arts, likely Rococo or late Baroque styles.
