Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 174:
Description
A set of elaborate formal window draperies, executed in a traditional, opulent style, comprising a valance with swags and jabots, and full-length curtain panels. The primary fabric features a woven jacquard or damask pattern with a geometric ogee motif overlaid with stylized floral elements. The main panels are presented in a golden-yellow hue, with close-up details revealing a lighter, possibly blush-toned variant of the fabric. Extensive passementerie in contrasting reddish-brown tones, including cords, multi-tiered tassels, and decorative fringe with spherical beads, adorns the edges and tie-backs. The overall aesthetic suggests a late 19th to mid-20th century revival period.
Condition report:
Good condition, consistent with age and use. The fabric and trimmings appear intact and well-maintained. A white auction \'LOT\' tag is visible on one curtain.
