Description
A Late 19th Century gilt-bronze group, after Claude Michel Clodion (French, 1738-1814), depicting the Infant Bacchus. The statuette portrays a classical or Baroque-style putto, partially draped, engaged in a playful struggle with a goat or ram-like creature. The dynamic figures are mounted on an irregular, rocky-textured base. The object exhibits an aged, dull gold patination. No clear textual markings or signatures are discernible on the item itself.
Condition report:
Good antique condition. Visible wear is present on raised areas and edges, revealing a darker underlayer beneath the metallic coating, consistent with loss to gilt patination commensurate with age and handling.
