Description
A monochrome architectural study on paper, depicting a classical Corinthian column capital, fluted shaft, and associated masonry elements, rendered with chiaroscuro shading. The artwork bears a circular stamp identifying it as from the “ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI DI BOLOGNA / SEZIONE ARCHITETTURA / BIBLIOTECA” (Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna / Architecture Section / Library). It is presented under glass with a wide white mat within a heavily ornate giltwood frame, exhibiting a Baroque or Rococo revival style with scrolling foliage and floral motifs.
Condition report:
The artwork exhibits overall paper toning and a noticeable crease/fold mark in the lower right portion. The giltwood frame shows expected age-related wear, including minor losses to gilding and surface abrasions consistent with age and handling.
