Description
A large-scale set of custom-made, traditionally styled draperies and valances, designed for tall windows in a grand architectural setting. The heavy woven jacquard textile features an elaborate repeating pattern in deep red or burgundy against a lighter ground, possibly beige or cream. The design incorporates stylized urns, scrolls, foliage, and what appear to be grotesque or mythological figures, flanked by a geometric diamond border motif. The draperies include deep, scalloped valances adorned with fringe and are extensively embellished with multi-tiered passementerie, including braided cord tie-backs with large decorative tassels and bobbles, and fringed leading edges. No visible text or markings are apparent.
Condition report:
Good overall condition, exhibiting rich colors, well-maintained fabric, and intact, intricate trimmings consistent with their elaborate style. Minor wear commensurate with age and use may be present.
