A late Victorian carved oak cased aneroid barometer and thermometer by Dollond, London. Housed within an ornately carved dark oak case, exhibiting a classical revivalist style. The upper section features a thermometer, visible through glass, flanked by fluted columns and topped with a pediment-like crest; it displays both Fahrenheit and Centigrade scales, along with a ‘FREEZE’ indicator. Below, a large circular aneroid barometer with a brass bezel is prominently displayed, marked ‘DOLLOND, LONDON.’ and ‘ANEROID BAROMETER,’ featuring weather predictions from ‘STORM’ to ‘Very Dry,’ and directional advice such as ‘FALL for S.W.ly WET or MORE WIND’ and ‘RISE for N.E.ly DRY or LESS WIND.’ The item appears complete and intact.
