Description
This mid-20th-century souvenir cloth doll represents a sailor from the ocean liner RMS Queen Mary. The figure features a molded and painted fabric face with side-glancing blue eyes and a small red-painted mouth. The doll is dressed in its original navy blue felt sailor uniform, which includes a jumper with a white-trimmed square sailor collar, a black necktie, and matching bell-bottom trousers. The sailor cap features a black tally band with gold-coloured lettering reading QUEEN MARY. The doll is finished with black felt feet and shows painted hair detail beneath the cap. The construction and facial features are in the style of Norah Wellings souvenir dolls of the period.
