A collection of mid-20th century board and card games, primarily of British manufacture. The group includes a folding Monopoly game board and its original red and white storage box, featuring London locations such as Whitechapel Road and Old Kent Road. The board is printed with MONOPOLY, TRADE MARK, and PATENT No 453689. The bottom-left corner of the board and the box lid are both printed with the manufacturer’s mark reading Manufactured in Great Britain by JOHN WADDINGTON LTD. LONDON & LEEDS. A boxed Deluxe Mastermind strategy game features a rectangular box lid printed with deluxe MASTER MIND, A GAME OF CUNNING AND LOGIC FOR TWO PLAYERS, and NOW FIVE HOLES AND EIGHT COLOURS UP TO 32,000 PERMUTATIONS, with a printed logo for Invicta in the bottom right corner. The set further includes a large cardboard box marked CHESS SET with an illustrated graphic, a smaller blue cardboard box marked MAGNETIC CHESS SET, and a card game in a blue box with red lettering marked SKIP-BO. An orange and red box is printed with LOTTO in green lettering and carries the printed text MADE IN ENGLAND. Completing the assortment is a square bi-fold cardboard game board with a yellow and black geometric grid pattern and a red decorative border. The items are primarily constructed from printed paper-covered cardboard.
