Lot 463:
A Collection of 15 Miniature Architectural Souvenir Buildings and Cottages
Description
An assortment of fifteen miniature architectural models, likely cast in resin or ceramic with hand-painted polychrome decoration. The collection features a variety of international and traditional styles. Mediterranean-inspired pieces include white-walled buildings with terracotta-tiled roofs and structures with blue-domed details. English traditional architecture is represented by half-timbered Tudor-style houses, cottages with thatched roofs, and brick-and-flint style buildings.
Several pieces bear regional souvenir markings. A white building with a terracotta roof is embossed with MALLORCA on its base. A larger white building featuring multiple roof tiers is also embossed MALLORCA on the base. A small white structure with a red roof has Mallorca printed in script on its side. A church model with a blue and white striped roof and red tower features an impressed Mallorca on its base. Another white building with a terracotta-tiled roof and a stone-textured base is embossed with MALLORCA on the side of the base. Other pieces, particularly the English-style cottages, appear to have embossed text on their bases, though the characters are not clearly legible.
