Description

A Victorian or Edwardian tabletop parlour game manufactured by George G. Bussey and Co. of London. The set includes four mallets featuring coloured identity bands in red, blue, yellow, and black, with four corresponding coloured balls, two starting posts, and a series of wire hoops. The mallets and balls are crafted from a dense cream-coloured material, possibly bone or xylonite, while the hoops are made from bent metal wire. The components are housed in their original two-part rectangular cardboard box, which features a textured black paper exterior and a red-flocked interior tray. The box lid is printed in white with a graphic design that includes the name BUSSEY’S above a small diamond containing the letters GGB. The central section features the words TABLE CROQUET within a diamond frame decorated with mallets and hoops, followed by the text (STRONG’S PATENT). The bottom edge bears the phrase BEST of TABLE GAMES.
