Lot 620:
A Collection of Hand Carved Wooden Elephant Figurines and Wall Plaque
Description
An assortment of hand-carved hardwood elephant figurines, likely crafted from teak or a similar tropical wood. The group includes a wall-mounted plaque featuring an elephant head with a raised trunk and inset tusk, alongside several standing and walking figures of varying styles. One small figure is notably decorated with an ornate fabric jhul, featuring red, white, and gold-tone sequins and embroidery. The figures exhibit a range of South Asian artisanal carving techniques, from smooth, stylized forms to more detailed representations with integrated bases. No maker’s marks, signatures, or country-of-origin labels are visible on any of the pieces.
