Lot 654:
A Vintage Burgundy and Gilt Glass Liqueur Set
Description
A seven-piece decorative liqueur or cordial set, comprising a decanter with a stopper and six matching glasses. The set is constructed from deep burgundy glass with heavy gilt overlay. The decanter features a tall, slender form with a rounded body and a narrow neck. The neck and shoulder are fully gilded, and the body is decorated with etched or transfer-printed gilt scenes depicting traditional European nautical and landscape motifs, including windmills and sailing ships. The decanter is topped with a faceted glass stopper featuring a pointed finial, finished entirely in gilt.
The accompanying six cordial glasses are of barrel-shaped form. Each glass mirrors the decorative scheme of the decanter, featuring a burgundy glass body with a central band of gilded nautical and windmill scenes, and finished with gilt rims and bases. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior or bases of any piece in the collection.
