Lot 656:
Three Cobalt Blue Glass Decorative Items Including a Pair of Pillar Candlesticks and a Miniature Ewer
Description
A trio of decorative cobalt blue glassware comprising a matching pair of pillar-form candlesticks and a single miniature ewer. The items are crafted from translucent deep blue glass using hand-blown and bench-working techniques.
The two matching candlesticks feature a flared, flat top rim with a central socket for a candle, supported by a long cylindrical stem that tapers slightly towards the base. The stem terminates in a stepped, circular pedestal foot. Decorative applied clear glass rings are positioned at the junction between the rim and neck, and where the stem meets the foot. These items are also consistent in form with bud vases.
The miniature ewer features a ruffled, tri-cornered rim and an applied cobalt blue handle. The body is embellished with a continuous applied glass trail that spirals around the neck and continues down the bulbous body in a looped rigaree pattern. The base is rounded.
No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the pieces in the provided images.
