Description
A large, vertically oriented Painting, executed in an 18th-century European Baroque or Neoclassical style, depicting a dynamic mythological or allegorical marine scene. The central figure is a crowned female deity or personification, elegantly draped in classical attire, seated on a shell-shaped chariot drawn by dolphins and tritons amidst turbulent waters. Several putti or cherubs are prominently featured, both in the stormy sky above and actively participating in the scene, one guiding the chariot. Additional figures, possibly sea nymphs or tritons, populate the lower portion of the composition. The Painting, likely oil on canvas, is housed within a substantial, ornate gilded frame.
