Lot 1402:
Description
A late 18th-century Hepplewhite style collection comprising a mahogany-toned drop-leaf table and two complementary shield-back chairs. The table features a rectangular top with two hinged leaves, supported by four turned legs. The accompanying chairs, one a side chair and the other an armchair, both feature distinctive shield-shaped backs with finely carved splats. The side chair’s splat displays a wheat sheaf crest and reeded urn-like elements, while the armchair’s features an urn-and-ribbon or geometric openwork design. Both chairs are upholstered in textured fabric, yellow on the side chair and cream on the armchair. All items are constructed from a dark reddish-brown hardwood, likely mahogany.
