Lot 1549:
Description
This lot comprises two framed works. The first is an engraving depicting the Great Seal of King George I, likely from Harrison’s History of England, 1786. The print is composed of seven circular medallions, two smaller crests/emblems, and a rectangular label, all set against a dark background. The medallions feature classical or medieval figures, some on horseback, with Latin-like inscriptions such as ‚DVX COLONIEN‘ and ‚ARCHIEPISC‘. A label is partially legible as ‚GALLERY BAGER, FRANKFURT AM MAIN, Germany, NO. 726‘. The second item is a print of a large pastoral or mythological scene, possibly a reproduction of a tapestry or Rococo painting. It features numerous figures in classical attire amidst an outdoor setting with trees and garlands, rendered in a muted color palette. Both works are presented in uniform contemporary gilt wood frames with a reeded profile and wide white mats, under glass.
