Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1618:
Description
A burr wood veneered three-drawer chest of drawers, dating from the early 19th century or a later revival. The piece features a highly figured burr wood veneer, likely burr walnut, on the rectangular top and drawer fronts, arranged in a symmetrical pattern. The main carcass and drawer dividers appear to be of a plainer, darker wood, possibly mahogany or walnut. It stands on four short, shaped feet, with the front appearing as squat turned forms. Each of the three drawers is fitted with a pair of oval brass drop-ring handles with matching escutcheon plates.
