Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 2009:
Description
A square pedestal-base table constructed from dark polished wood, likely mahogany or a similar hardwood. The table features a single turned pedestal with four splayed legs terminating in stylized feet. Accompanying the table are a pair of side chairs in the Rococo Revival or French Provincial style. These chairs are characterized by carved cabriole legs, detailed aprons, and an X-form stretcher base with a central carved rosette. One chair is upholstered in a vibrant paisley-style fabric featuring gold, fuchsia, and deep red patterns, while the other is covered in a solid olive-green velvet-like material. Both chairs are accented with metal nailhead trim. No visible text or maker’s marks are present.
Condition report:
The table displays noticeable wear, scuffs, and finish loss along its edges and base. The chairs exhibit visible signs of age and use, with wear on the wooden components. The upholstery on both chairs appears to be in generally fair to good condition.
