Description
A Victorian Gothic Revival ‚Green Man‘ carved oak hall stand. Crafted from dark-stained oak, the piece features extensive carving throughout. It is surmounted by a decorative cresting rail with foliate patterns, above an upper storage compartment with a hinged lid. The front of this lid is prominently carved with a central grotesque mask, flanked by scrolling foliage. A mid-level rail connecting the front turned legs is adorned with shell or fan motifs. The stand rests on four turned legs, the front pair topped with finials, and includes a lower shelf fitted with two square, recessed black metal drip trays. No visible manufacturer’s markings are present.
Condition report:
Good overall condition, exhibiting a rich patina consistent with age. Minor surface wear and shallow abrasions commensurate with age and use. No visible repairs or significant damage.
