Description
A pair of French bronzed spelter figures, inspired by the style of Jacques Callot, depicting standing male figures in elaborate 17th or early 18th-century style costume. The figure on the left holds a book inscribed „LE LECTEUR“ and gestures with an open hand. The figure on the right holds a plumed hat and a scroll or fan, and is adorned with a large medallion on a chain. Both statues are mounted on circular tiered plinths and exhibit a consistent dark patination. One figure bears an auction label, „ProAuction LOT 21“.
Condition report:
Good overall condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. The dark patination is consistent across both figures. No significant damage or repairs noted.
