Description
An Adam Style Architectural Design Drawing for the Alcove Table for Luton, Attributed to William and James Adam, circa 1770s. Rendered in ink and wash or pencil on toned paper, the drawing depicts a classical-style console or side table with fluted legs, a carved frieze, and swag ornamentation. The upper left bears the inscription ‚Design for the Alcove Table for Luton.‘ The lower right is inscribed ‚W. Adam Invt.‘ and ‚J. Adam‘ with a date around the 1770s, possibly 1776. The drawing is presented under glass within a dark wooden frame with a gold-tone inner fillet and a mat. A ‚PreAuction LOT 323‘ sticker is affixed to the frame.
Condition report:
The drawing exhibits age-consistent toning and minor discoloration. It appears to be in stable antique condition within its protective frame. The frame shows minor wear commensurate with age.
