Description

An English mahogany sideboard with an integrated mirrored superstructure, circa 1920s. Constructed from mahogany or a similar rich hardwood, the lower cabinet features a serpentine front. Highly figured veneers are arranged in a subtle herringbone or chevron pattern on the two central drawers and flanking cabinet doors. The upper section frames a rectangular mirror with a richly carved frieze overhead and is flanked by turned, fluted columns resting on pedestals. The lower cabinet offers two drawers with brass drop handles and escutcheons, one notably bearing a small tag with the handwritten number „51,“ alongside two cabinet doors with coordinating brass hardware. The entire unit is supported by four shaped cabriole-style legs at the front and simpler straight legs at the rear.

Condition report:

The item presents in good apparent condition, exhibiting a well-maintained polished finish. Minor surface wear, including light scratches and small indentations, is consistent with age and use. No significant structural damage or repairs are immediately visible. The mirror appears intact with minor silvering loss commensurate with age.
