Description
A Neoclassical-style demilune commode, crafted from wood extensively veneered with highly figured burlwood or similar exotic timber, accented with contrasting dark wood banding and stringing. The curved front features two narrow upper drawers and two deeper, conforming drawers below, flanked by hinged side doors. All drawers and doors are fitted with circular brass pulls and decorative escutcheons. Prominent gilt bronze mounts depicting draped urns and foliage adorn the front corners, above four tapered and fluted legs.
Condition report:
The top surface exhibits significant finish degradation, discoloration, and potential veneer lifting or cracking. A non-legible white sticker is visible on the top surface. The overall condition of the chest shows age-appropriate wear and some surface abrasions consistent with its presumed age.
