Description
A comprehensive bedroom suite executed in traditional Georgian-revival style, featuring a rich, dark polish, likely mahogany or walnut. The suite comprises a double bed with a shaped, burr-veneered headboard and a plain divan base, accompanied by a modern tufted mattress. Flanking the bed are a pair of matching dark-polished wooden nightstands, each fitted with brass pull handles and dark insert tops. A pair of brass and ceramic-bodied table lamps with pleated shades are positioned atop the nightstands. At the foot of the bed, an upholstered bench with dark turned legs and stud detailing is present. The room further includes a pair of button-tufted upholstered armchairs with scrolled arms and dark turned legs, a small rectangular occasional table, and a side chair with a plain upholstered seat. A substantial rectangular dressing table or desk is featured, with a quartered burr-veneer top protected by a glass overlay, brass handles, and two banks of drawers. This is accompanied by a traditional-style chair with a shaped splat back and upholstered seat, and a rectangular wooden-framed wall mirror. Completing the suite are a four-drawer chest, also with burr-veneer fronts and a glass overlay, a small drop-leaf occasional table with an elaborate stretcher base, and a full-length wooden-framed wall mirror. All wooden furniture items exhibit a rich, dark polish, consistent with traditional Georgian-revival or classic styles.
Condition report:
Generally good, used condition with expected minor surface wear to wooden surfaces, including light scratching and scuffs consistent with age and use. The mattress bears an unreadable manufacturer\'s label and shows minor surface discoloration. Upholstery on the bench, armchairs, and chairs exhibits light wear and some minor compression. The glass overlays on the dressing table and chest show minor surface scratches.
