Description
A First World War British War Medal, a circular, silver-toned military campaign medal. The medal is attached to a ribbed textile ribbon featuring vertical stripes of blue, white, orange/yellow, white, and blue. The obverse depicts a classical-style bare-chested male figure on horseback, with the dates „1914-1918“ visible around the edge. The reverse features a profile bust portrait of King George V facing left, surrounded by the Latin inscription „GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:“, which translates to „George V, King of all Britons and Emperor of India.“ The edge is inscribed with service details: „7864 SJT. W. WILLIAMS. CH: OUG. R.“.
