Description
A vintage Everitt’s Patent Press trouser press, retailed by Hepworths‘, „The World’s Premier Clothiers.“ The press is comprised of two primary wooden boards; the larger, lighter-toned board features two hinged, threaded metal rods with butterfly-nut style clamps. The smaller, darker-stained wooden board attaches to these via two polished metal uprights, also secured with similar adjustable clamps. A paper label on the larger board provides operating instructions, stating „EVERITT’S, “ „REVERSE THIS BOARD AND PLACE TROUSERS ON THE OTHER SIDE, “ and advises on pressure and a „STRETCHER ATTACHMENT.“ A separate white plaque on the darker wood identifies it as „EVERITT’S PATENT PRESS, “ „HEPWORTHS‘, “ and „THE WORLD’S PREMIER CLOTHIERS.“ This functional item is consistent with an early to mid-20th century period.
