Description

A collection of approximately 22 vintage paper items, primarily consisting of British knitting patterns from the mid-to-late 20th century, alongside royal commemorative ephemera. The lot includes a copy of The Illustrated Diamond Jubilee 2012 Souvenir Issue magazine, which features a black and white photographic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the cover and is titled A Celebration in Pictures of Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 Years.

The knitting patterns represent several prominent UK manufacturers and retailers. These include Patons, with a Fairytale baby pattern (No. 242) and a Beehive Husky chunky design (No. 1764); Sirdar, including Snuggly and DK children’s patterns such as design C3447; and Emu Treasure, with multiple baby leaflets including numbers 8547, 8598, and 8611. Other represented brands include Pingouin (No. 7913), Robin Bambino (No. 13046), Poppleton (No. 1097), and Woolworth (No. 528). Several patterns from the Keynote range for Littlewoods are present, including designs for baby coats and pullovers (Nos. 109, 111, and 311).

Additional ephemera includes a printed pull-out titled Fayre Favourites featuring bazaar and gift makes, and a small historical print titled The Marlborough Steam Carriage. The patterns feature various garment types, with a heavy emphasis on infants‘ and children’s knitwear, including cardigans, hats, blankets, and angel tops, alongside a smaller selection of adult knitwear such as a ladies‘ yellow cardigan and a men’s chunky cable-knit jumper.
