A collection of six Wedgwood pale blue Jasperware Christmas plates
Description
A collection of six commemorative Christmas plates produced by Wedgwood in pale blue Jasperware stoneware. Each plate features a white sprigged bas-relief central scene depicting a London landmark, surrounded by a laurel leaf border. The faces of the plates are decorated with white relief text reading CHRISTMAS and the corresponding year. The collection includes plates from 1975 depicting Tower Bridge, 1976 showing Hampton Court, 1978 featuring St Pauls Cathedral, 1979 with Westminster Abbey, 1980 showing Horse Guards, Whitehall, and 1981 depicting Marble Arch. The lot is accompanied by original descriptive paper inserts, such as a square white slip with blue print reading The Wedgwood Christmas Plate for 1976. The plates are housed in their original lilac and white cardboard boxes, which bear the printed maker name Wedgwood in a serif typeface on the lids. The interiors contain white polystyrene form-fitting inserts.
