Lot 397:
Three Chinese style porcelain collector plates signed H. C. Cheung
Description
A trio of circular porcelain collector plates featuring polychrome transfer-printed illustrations in a traditional Chinese figurative style. Each plate depicts a scene with women dressed in elegant robes within various interior and garden environments, surrounded by a continuous red geometric key-pattern border. The first plate shows a woman reclining on a daybed with incense smoke curling upwards. The second plate depicts a woman and a child standing in a garden near a pavilion with flowering shrubs in the foreground. The third plate features a woman in a garden setting beneath a large yellow circular motif, likely representing the moon or sun, with a willow tree nearby. Each central illustration bears a readable signature in stylized black script to the right-hand side reading H. C. Cheung. The items are contained within their original octagonal white polystyrene shipping and storage containers.
