A Pair of Royal Doulton Bone China Christmas Bells for JCPenney
Description
These two English bone china bells were manufactured by Royal Doulton. Each bell features a flared form topped with a gilded open heart-shaped handle and contains a suspended metal ball-chain clapper. The exterior of each piece is decorated with a continuous transfer-printed winter landscape depicting a horse-drawn sleigh travelling through a snowy woodland scene. The lower rim of each bell is inscribed with the phrase ‚To Grandmother’s House we go.‘ in black serif lettering. The pieces are further embellished with gold lining to the upper and lower rims and gilded highlights to the handles. The underside of each bell bears a printed black backstamp. This mark consists of the name ‚ROYAL DOULTON‘ positioned above a circular crest featuring a lion atop a crown with a central monogram of four interlaced ‚D‘ characters. The crest is encircled by the text ‚MADE IN ENGLAND‘, ‚ROYAL DOULTON‘, and ‚ENGLAND‘. Beneath the crest are the words ‚BONE CHINA‘, ‚EXCLUSIVELY FOR‘, and ‚JCPenney‘.
