Lot 424:
A Collection of 23 Miniature Porcelain Decorative Plaques with Romantic and Marine Scenes
Description
A collection of 23 miniature porcelain plaques, likely intended for furniture insets or jewellery components. The assortment includes 17 decorated plaques and six unpainted blanks or pieces shown from the reverse. The plaques are primarily oval in form, with some circular examples, featuring raised scalloped or crimped ‚pie crust‘ borders finished in a cream glaze. The decorative scenes are applied via transfer printing and include pastoral romantic couples in eighteenth-century dress, maritime scenes with tall ships at sea, and rural landscapes featuring windmills and cottages. The reverse of the decorated pieces reveals a flat glazed surface, several of which bear visible white adhesive residue from previous mounting. No maker’s marks, signatures, or country of origin stamps are visible on any of the pieces shown.
