Lot 616:
A Group of Four Hand Carved Kenyan Hardwood Antelope Figurines
Description
A group of four hand-carved animal figurines in the form of antelopes, likely representing gazelles or impalas. The figures are carved from a medium-toned hardwood with a polished finish and visible wood grain. The collection features two standing figures in alert poses with elongated necks, one smaller standing figure of more compact form, and one figure in a resting or seated position with its head turned. Three of the figures are mounted on integral rectangular wooden plinths. The carving exhibits a stylized, rustic aesthetic characteristic of Kenyan folk art. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are present on the figures or their bases.
