Description
This cast iron fire grate features an ornate openwork construction, characteristic of the Neoclassical Revival style popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The backplate is adorned with a fluted fan motif and a bead-and-reel border. Scrolled side supports are embellished with applied foliate designs, framing three horizontal front bars. The grate is accented with two reeded brass urn-shaped finials capping the side supports and a central radiating brass knob on the front apron. The item is finished in matte black. The item’s materials are confirmed to be cast iron, with brass accents.
