Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1428:
Description
A group of three small framed prints. Two of the prints are color reproductions of 18th-century French Neoclassical decorative arts, depicting an ornate candelabra described as being of ormolu, bronze, and lapis, and a ‘Cheminée Vase’ (Chimney Vase) of Sèvres porcelain with ormolu mounts. Text on these prints attributes the originals to ‘Thomire or Gouthière for Marie Antoinette’ and notes their purchase for Biddesden House, with the vase dated October 1782. The third print is a monochrome architectural rendering of a stately house in a landscape, exhibiting visible horizontal lines and tonal variations consistent with an aged document. All three prints are presented in matching gold-colored, possibly gilded, wooden frames with a reeded texture, behind glazing.
