Description
A large-format oil on canvas painting, depicting a full-length female figure in a classical white gown with a gold sash, set against an outdoor landscape with a tree, cloudy sky, and distant hills. The painting is housed within an ornate, deeply carved gilded wooden frame. A brass plaque affixed to the lower center of the frame identifies the subject as «Countess of Bellamont» and the artist as «Sir Joshua Reynolds,» noting its provenance from «The Wernher Collection» and «English Heritage photo library.» This attribution is contradicted by strong market consensus identifying the work as «Mrs. Thomas Scott Jackson» by George Romney. A «LOT 160» sticker is also visible on the frame below the plaque.
