Description
This antique or period-style wooden sofa table is executed in the Louis XIII style, featuring a dark stained finish, likely mahogany or walnut. The rectangular top is inset with a central panel of distressed green leather, surrounded by gilt tooling, and flanked by two hinged drop leaves with similar leather and tooling. The table is supported by turned legs connected by turned stretchers, characteristic of traditional designs. A white tag on one leg is marked «Lot 794 Sofa Table.»
Condition report:
The item exhibits considerable wear consistent with age and use, including scuffs, scratches, and loss of finish to the wooden surfaces, especially on the edges and feet. The leather and gilt tooling on the tabletop show fading and abrasion.
