Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 254:
Description
A pair of elaborate custom window treatments, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, executed in a Rococo Revival or Neoclassical style. Each treatment features a complex arrangement of heavy, patterned fabric, likely damask or brocade, in a muted taupe or beige hue. The textile elements include draped swags, jabots, and fringed borders adorned with small hanging tassels. Complementing these are substantial braided cord tie-backs, each finished with large, multi-tiered tassels. Above each window, ornate white-painted architectural pelmets or cornices display classical carved or molded decorative motifs.
Condition report:
The textile elements appear in good, used condition, consistent with age. Minor wear and fading commensurate with age and use. The architectural pelmets show some paint loss and surface wear.
