Description
This collection consists of an assortment of decorative and miniature metalware items. The primary piece is a decorative dagger with a curved, etched blade featuring polychrome accents and a matching scabbard. The scabbard is embellished with a crowned lion crest, a motif frequently found on Spanish souvenir daggers from the Toledo region. The hilt includes a red cabochon-style inset. The collection also features a cast metal miniature saber with a D-guard hilt and a pair of small crossed swords. Additional items include a silver-tone metal inkstand or desk tray with three lidded vessels, a hinged metal case or purse with etched floral and geometric patterns, and an ornate metal oil lamp or censer with a long neck and flared rim. The items are constructed from various materials including brass, steel, and silver-tone metal alloys. No maker marks or manufacturer names are visible on any of the objects.
Condition report:
The items exhibit various states of condition consistent with age. The miniature saber shows significant green verdigris patination. The crossed swords are heavily rusted. Tarnish, surface oxidation, and general wear are present across the collection. The scabbard shows some loss to the finish and surface corrosion.
