Description
A vintage Chad Valley GWR Interlocking Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle, comprising approximately 200 interlocking, three-ply wood pieces. The puzzle is presented in its original light blue-marbled paper-covered cardboard box. The lid features a prominent printed label detailing «About 200 PIECES INTERLOCKING – THREE PLY WOOD, » with the stylized text «JIG-SAW PUZZLE» and a «GWR» monogram. The label further states it was «PUBLISHED BY THE GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY CO.» and «MANUFACTURED BY THE CHAD VALLEY CO LTD. HARBORNE, ENGLAND.» Two heraldic crests with Latin mottos, «DOMINE DIRIGE NOS» and «INDUSTRIA ET INCREMENTUM, » are also incorporated into the label design. A small, affixed color print on the lid depicts a bustling harbor scene with fishing boats and figures, consistent with the imagery on the puzzle pieces visible inside the box.
