Description
A vintage Sony model TC-131SD stereo cassette recorder, manufactured in Japan during the early 1970s. This top-loading unit is housed in a cabinet featuring wood-effect veneer side panels with a brushed aluminium and black plastic upper faceplate. The control interface comprises piano-key style transport buttons for pause, record, rewind, play, fast forward, and eject. Audio monitoring is provided by dual analogue VU meters for left and right channels. The faceplate includes toggle switches for power, Dolby NR, limiter, and tape selection between normal and CrO2. Manual recording levels are adjusted via dual vertical sliding potentiometers. The machine is equipped with ferrite and ferrite heads, an automatic shut-off feature, and a three-digit mechanical tape counter. Connectivity includes 1/4 inch (6.35mm) jacks for left and right microphones and a headphone output on the side panel, while the rear panel features RCA phono connectors for line in and line out, alongside a 5-pin DIN socket. The rear power section contains a multi-voltage selector, currently set to 240V, and a detachable power cable.
