Three continental hand-painted porcelain figurines in 18th-century dress
Description
Three continental hand-painted glazed porcelain figurines modelled in 18th-century style. The collection comprises a male figure in a pink frock coat with purple lining, a white waistcoat, green breeches, and a black tricorn hat standing on a dark rocky base; a female figure in a pale green dress with yellow accents carrying a wicker basket of fruit on a circular base; and a smaller figure in a blue and white striped coat with purple breeches and a tricorn hat, playing a wind instrument. An incised mark on the underside of the circular base consists of the numerals 407 arranged vertically above a horizontal dividing line and a capital I, with a scripted 26 to the side (photo 2). A blue hand-painted mark on the underside of a separate base consists of two curved strokes resembling the number 77 (photo 3). These marks are not legible as a name.
