Description

A collection of miniature ceramic items encompassing a variety of styles, materials, and decorative techniques. The group includes a small handled jug in matte black stoneware, featuring an impressed mark on the base reading WEDGWOOD, A, S, 2 1/2, and ENGLAND. An octagonal-bodied vase is decorated in a traditional Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron red, and gilt floral motifs; its base bears a blue transfer mark showing the word MASON’S above a crown, with a scroll below containing PATENT IRONSTONE and the word CHINA underneath, alongside a hand-painted pattern number in red script reading B 837. A two-handled cream-coloured pot is inscribed in black script A gift from Bourton-on-the-Water and carries a black transfer mark on the base with a crown over a circular crest containing STOKE-ON-TRENT and the name ARCADIAN. Also included is a small pedestal vase with a square base, decorated with blue bands and a central floral spray, marked on the base in grey script English Fine China.

The collection further comprises a black jasperware-style miniature jug with a white bas-relief classical figure and white handle, a floral-encrusted vase with a green body and multi-coloured applied flowers, and a blue and white lidded ginger jar with transfer-printed landscape decoration. Completing the assortment are various other miniature porcelain and earthenware items, including a fluted purple-toned vase, a floral lidded trinket box, and several decorated jugs.
