November Toys & Vintage Auction
Lot 433:
Description
A late 19th or early 20th-century mineral water bottle, constructed from light green aqua glass. This example is a Codd-neck design, featuring a pinched neck with two internal glass lugs designed to hold a glass marble stopper in place while pouring carbonated contents. The bottle body is embossed with bold capital letters reading BROOKE & BATLEY. Further embossed lettering at the base of the body reads BATLEY, identifying the regional mineral water manufacturer from West Yorkshire. The glass exhibits internal bubbles and a thick, moulded finish typical of the period.
