A Group of Vintage Musical and Decorative Jewellery Boxes
Description
A collection of vintage decorative and musical jewellery boxes of varying designs. The largest item is a wooden jewellery chest with a light oak finish, featuring two drawers with ornate metal handles and a serpentine-fronted top. Also included is an oval black-lacquered box, the lid decorated with a hand-painted floral and bird motif in polychrome enamels; it is fitted with two silver-tone metal push-button latches. A smaller rectangular wooden trinket box features a decorative foliate marquetry inlay on the lid in contrasting wood veneers. The final item is a rectangular musical jewellery box covered in dark blue faux leather with gold-tone line borders. The interior of the blue box is lined with pink flocked fabric and contains a small rotating ballerina figurine with a white net tutu, positioned in front of a mirrored panel set into the lid. No maker’s names or specific marks are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces of the pieces.
