Lot 660:
Cobalt Blue Glazed Porcelain Trinket Box with Peacock and Floral Decoration
Description
A small porcelain trinket or patch box comprising a base and a fitted lid, finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze. The box is formed in a stylized cloud or fan-like shape with a scalloped outer edge. The lid features a polychrome and gilt design depicting two peacocks amidst blooming pink flowers, likely peonies, executed with transfer-printed outlines and hand-finished gilt highlights. The interior of both the lid and base is fully glazed in cobalt blue, while the mating rims and the foot ring of the base remain unglazed, revealing the white porcelain body. The underside of the base features a gold-tone square seal mark containing stylized characters in seal script. The characters are not legible as a specific name or factory mark.
