Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1027:
Description
A late 19th to early 20th century Brass folding fan fire screen, often referred to as a ‘peacock’ screen due to its radiating panel design. Crafted from Brass, it features intricate pierced scrollwork panels fanning out from a central support. The support is adorned with a winged grotesque figure and a stylized ‘H’ or Roman numeral ‘II’ emblem, topped with an urn finial. Accompanying this is a Cast Iron fire basket, blackened with gilded or brass accents. It exhibits a richly decorative Rococo Revival or Neoclassical style, characterized by ornate scrolling acanthus leaf details, prominent finials, and a central cartouche on its back. Both items reflect a period aesthetic, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
