Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1274:
Description
The lot comprises three distinct framed prints, likely reproductions of original jewelry design drawings, attributed to the workshop of Guido Matteoni in Rome. One print depicts an open, heart-shaped jewel box or locket, adorned with diamond-like embellishments, featuring an inner red surface bearing the name « Bia » in script, and a blue feathered detail. A second print illustrates a closed, blue heart-shaped object with a serpentine, jeweled design that spells « Coca » or « Cosa, » with a glimpse of a red interior. The third print displays a jeweled perfume bottle or flask, featuring a white body, a green crown-like stopper and base, both embellished with diamond-like stones and a single red cabochon gem at the apex of the crown. Each print is housed within a gold-tone, reeded frame under glass. A block of fine script at the bottom of each print, translatable from French, reads: « Tiara. Dessin exécuté dans ma maison à Rome et transposé pour la joaillerie. Exécuté à l’Atelier du Joaillier Guido Matteoni, modèle de l’objet de la Reine. »
