Luton Hoo - Bedrooms
Lot 1421:
Description
An early 19th-century oval gateleg dining table, featuring a dark-stained wood frame with drop leaves and a contrasting lighter central plank, likely oak. The table is supported by turned gatelegs. Accompanying the table are three chairs. Two chairs form a matching pair, crafted from dark-stained wood, possibly mahogany, exhibiting reeded top rails, a central carved back splat, and turned front legs, consistent with a late Georgian or early Victorian revival style. Their seats are upholstered in a light pink fabric adorned with a subtle, repeating patterned motif. The third chair is distinct in style, also of dark-stained wood, presenting a curved top rail and a horizontal central splat embellished with lighter inlaid or painted decorative elements, and an upholstered seat in plain light beige fabric, suggestive of an earlier Federal or Sheraton revival style.
