Description
An 18th Century portrait painting, likely oil on canvas, depicting John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute (1713-1792). The gentleman is shown in a powdered wig, ruffled cravat, and a blue buttoned coat, with a light-colored, possibly fur-trimmed or draped, garment over his left arm. The artwork is presented within a substantial, ornate giltwood frame.
